Since becoming a runner and a fitness professional, I have come to learn a number of different workout routines. I know what exercises work what muscles. I’ve learned a lot about nutrition, new ways to gain strength, and the most effective ways to lose fat without losing muscle. In other words, I spend a lot of my time reading articles, books and blogs. I’ve realized lately, that I am not spending near as much time reading the bible as I could be. Without trying, my priorities have shifted – in the wrong direction. Reading this verse makes me realize the seriousness of this problem. The Bible is our instruction book. It is the gift God gave us so that we could learn from Him and know how best to live each day of our lives. When I am discouraged, am I ready with a verse to strengthen my resolve? The Bible is simply a heavy sword that I cannot lift off the ground if I do not commit it to my heart and mind. I hope you make reading the Bible a part of your day. I certainly need to get back into that habit. It’s the best way to live our lives in a very powerful and meaningful way. Be ready to take on whatever battle comes your way. Take up your sword by making sure God’s Word is alive and active in you.
