Read Revelation 21:3-4
I am heaven bound! I have to be entirely honest, here. I feel certain that I am not as excited about heaven as I should be. It’s very difficult for me to imagine what it is like. The Bible gives us glimpses of heaven, but I’d love more specifics.
Considering the amazingly beautiful spots that exist on earth (Kauai, the Grand Canyon, the Amazon River, Bora Bora, for example), there must be even more spectacular scenes in heaven! Movies and television frequently show heaven as a foggy, colorless place with a guy in a suit at a gate waiting to check in the next arrival. It isn’t unusual for people to think of heaven as a place with floating clouds, harps and serious people walking around with plastic smiles on their faces. I am certain none of that is accurate.
I wonder things about heaven. Admittedly, some are not very important, like Will there be golf courses, and will we all play perfect rounds of golf? Will I still have the desire to run? I have to think the trails for running in heaven would be absolutely gorgeous. Will my muscles never get sore? Will we all have the same abilities? Will we improve? What will we eat…will we eat? (I hear there is a great feast planned, so I think we’ll be eating). Will we wear the same thing every day, or will we have a variety of beautiful clothes that never wear out?
I do understand that my questions about sports, clothes and food are not very important when I consider what I do know. I am certain that we will be in God’s presence. We know God is a God of might, power and strength, yet He also shows us that He is a God of love. He will wipe every tear from our eyes. We will never want for more or need anything more. There will be no crying, no pain (I guess that clears up that question about sore muscles), there will be amazingly beautiful music, and we will experience complete joy. We will never be bored. We will never be tired. We will never be ill. We will never complain. We will never be sad. We will never be ashamed. I also know that Jesus said He was going to prepare a place for us (John 14:2-3), and that He will come back to take us to be with Him. This actually does sound exciting! All He asks of us is to believe in Him and follow Him. This is how I know I am heaven bound!
