Daily Devotional: Love in Action

1 John 3:16-18

The ultimate example of love is shown by Jesus Christ. He left heaven to live on earth as a lowly man, beginning His life here as a baby. He did this to be the ultimate sacrifice for man, bearing all of our sins. He endured torture, humiliation, and a shameful death on a cross. This, so we could live forever with Him. This is love.

Take action! We cannot be given this kind of love and not share it with others. Is someone hungry? Feed him. Is someone cold? Warm her. Is someone lonely? Befriend her. Is someone naked? Clothe him. Is someone without love? Love him. Love her. Do more than just speak of God’s love. Live God’s love.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the incredible love You have for me. I know I do not fully understand how wonderful it is, and yet, You still give it to me in full measure. Give me the opportunity, Lord, to show Your love to others. When the opportunity is placed before me, give me the eyes to see it, and the desire to act on it. For, when I love someone, I am loving You. In Jesus’ name I pray – Amen.
